1986 245 cranks but no start/spark
Advise on: What to do with a 1986 Volvo 245 that cranks but won’t start One mechanic claims:No spark, no pulse on distributor, no power to main computer ,no power from fuel pump relay. Fuel relay and distributor were changed prior to this check . Where to go next /what to do next? I do not want to keep paying a mechanic to diagnose . I live in NYC and every mechanic (except the last one) is unwilling to look into the problem. What do you advise / suggest?????? Thank you
If there is no power to the computer then check the 25 amp fuse located on the inside of the driver side front fender. This is a blade type fuse rather than the types you see in the fuse box. Here is a link to a thread that shows a picture of it:

One thing to keep in mind is that 1986 was one of the years that had the "biodegradable" wiring harness. This means that the insulation on the wiring harness has a tendency to break down prematurely and cause all kinds of electrical gremlins. This may be one of the reasons the mechanics don't want to bother with it. Considering that mechanics time is usually over $100 per hour I'm not sure it's in your best interest to have them diagnosing this problem.
