1986 Volvo 240 DL parts question
Hey everyone, I’m new to this thread. I just purchased a 1986 Volvo 240 DL a couple weeks ago and managed to hit a deer with it last night. The hood is completed wrecked as well as the radiator assembly, head lights and potentially more. I’m on the hunt for a new hood and radiator and am considering buying an entire car just for parts, as there are a couple in my area for a decent price. My question however is this: if I buy a 1992 Volvo 240 DL will the parts work for my 1986? Will the hood in specific fit?
I’d accept any other suggestions or parts sources as well.
Thanks for for your help,
Nick

don't be surprised if a bunch of welded stuff around/behind the headlights, and around the radiator is tweaked too.
this is a 240 that was in a minor fender bender, needed new headlights and grill, but you can see there was a bunch of bent sheet metal behind that all, too.

there were no significant body changes in the 240 after 86. fenders, hoods, bumpers, headlights, turn signals, grills were all the same. in 92 or 93, they changed the windshield trim, but you can use the new style windshield with integral trim seal on the older cars without any issues.
there were changes under the hood, 86-88 used LH 2.2 EFI with a Chrysler ignition control unit, while 89-93 used LH 2.4 injection, with a Bosch EZK ignition control unit. ABS was introduced to 240 models somewhere in there.
