Default 1987 240 no spark

This has the Bosch ignition. On the distributor plug. With the key on, holding the plug so the metal clip is up, I get no voltage on either the right or left pins. I do however get a click when touching the center one but no light on the tester (tester is grounded to battery). Power to the coil on pos. 15 & also pos.1. Power to blue wire at the module by washer fluid tank. Any ideas what's up here? Is it the module?

Thanks,
Gus

the signal from the hall sensor is very small low level, like a few 100ths of a volt, on the + and - wires as a twisted pair differential, you won't see this on a volt meter, maybe on an oscilloscope. I believe the middle pin is ground, for the electrical shielding.

btw, you may have a bosch distributor and coil, but that ignition controller on the right fender is a chrysler ignition system.

You are right about this; I didn't clarify but yes it is Chrysler. It's amazing how long this stuff lasts bouncing around under the hood of a car.

I took the ICM out. Is there a way to bench test this thing for issues.

it pretty much needs the car to operate, to bench test it you would need stuff that simulated the car.... be very careful with that connector, btw, its really easy to loosen the pin sockets so they don't make good contact, and that harness is unobtanium.

fwiw, those ICUs are really reliable I don't think I've ever heard of one failing.
