I have a 1987 240 DL wagon. Everything about it is inspection worthy except i can't get the wipers to work. Here are the things i've managed to figured out.

1.) I've replaced the motor with a new one.
2.) I've bought and installed a new switch. (it wasn't exactly the same as the one i replaced but the dealer said it would work on all 240 models).
3.) I've made sure that I have a 16 amp fuse in the proper place.
4.) I've made sure that the motor is well grounded.

I also have noted that every time I would put the old switch in the down position it blew the fuse.

All i can think of now is that I am going to have to figure out how to find a bad wire through the fire wall or something. I'd love to DIY this and don't want to give up yet. If you have any suggestions that would be awesome!

Can you see if you're getting power at the wiper motor?

 

I have a volt meter and have checked the four prong power connector to the wiper motor. When I tested it with the old switch two of the four prongs had power to it but the other two did not. When i put the switch on low there wasn't power to any of them. I didn't try that with the new switch, I will though and let you know.
