Default 1987 740 Fuel Problem

My wiring harness was completely destroyed put in a new one figured out the computer was bad so I replaced it and now I get spark and a partial start. Never worked on a fuel injected system so not sure which things affect it. I checked pump pressure it was good. So I pulled the fuel rail and held it up while we started it and after a first start waiting about 15 minutes you get it to spray squirts for a couple seconds. Then once it stops I try again to start it after waiting a second or so and it will spray once sometimes twice and thats it while we continue to try to start it. Why would the fuel injectors not continue? what sends the signal to the rail to tell it to spray?

Thanks for any help.

I would say:

fuel pressure regulator
fuel pump relay
clogged fuel filter

take off the negative battery connection for a few seconds and reconnect...

I bet dollars to doughnuts it's fuel relay. Like the old volvo saying goes: "It's probably the fuel relay."
