Default 1987 Volvo 740GLE Need help.

1987 Volvo 740GLE

The problem is I have no spark. I tested a few things to see what the problem could be. I replaced the Fuel Pump Relay as many said it could be possible that was the problem. I have tested the coil 1K ohm book said .6-.9 Secondary was exactly within range. tested for a flickering light at the coil it just got dimmer. Haven't tested much else yet have more tests to do but found the distributer plug to be strange.

Ignition Off

Between the black line and the positive battery terminal there is continuity.

Between the Red line and the positive Battery terminal there is -5.8V The red is acting as ground.

Ignition On

8.11V from red

.27V From Blue

Black and blue Gave 3.18V

Black and Blue gave .01v

Red is third cable - blue is middle or second - black is first or ground.

What do you think is the problem. I'm also looking for an indepth way to test the hall effect sensor.
Thanks,
Zyan

Go to www.stepbystepvolvo.com for free guide to 740 no-starts. No spark means 4 things: 1) bad Hall sensor, 2) bad Power Stage, 3) bad ignition coil, or 4) bad wiring to one of above. Most likely are the Hall sensor or Power Stage; least likely is the ignition coil.
