1988 240 died while driving-any ideas?
I was driving one of my 240's. This one is a 1988 wagon automatic. I was diving aprox 50 mph then wammo, car completely stalls and still will not start. There is spark from the coil and the plugs, power to the fuel pump etc. but when I turn the ignition to the on position, the fuel pump will not turn on. I have replaced the fuel pump relay, the fule injection computer and the main relay. I have not checked the fuses for corrosion yet and have not checked the timing belt, these are next on my list. Any other ideas? I have also checked the ignition module....I have spark and no gas, fule pump does work though when hot wired. TY SEATTLEVOLVOGUY

Unplug your air mass sensor and see if car will start. This puts computer in limp home mode. If it runs unplugged but will not start when you connect it then you have a bad air mass sensor. They are horribly expensive but available quite cheaply from www.car-part.com used. Go to the page with the asterisk for the lowest price. I bought two for 40$
