1988 240 no start when hot
I have a 1988 240 auto A/C with about 200k on it. It recently has been giving me a real headache by not starting when it is hot. That is it will start when it is hot out if it is first thing in the morning or it has sat for a hour or more but very often when it is hot out if I shut the car off to run in to a store when I return it will not start. I have tried jumpering the fuel pump relay-no help- replaced cap rotor wires plugs air filter fuel pressure reg. temp sensor all no help. The only thing that works is to let the car cool off and it starts and runs super. Once started the car is really a great running car , but this leaving me stranded behavior will get this car sold if not fixed soon. Thanks for any ideas , Mike
hmmm....usually one has nothing to do with the other just seems like it...but things that can get overheated are your powerstage or your coil....check your spark when not starting see if you have strong spark, weak spark or intermittent spark...start there and let me know what you find...
it is mounted to the front of passenger fender under the hood with 2 screws/bolts...has a electrical connection going to it..
