Randomly my 740's tachometer is incorrectly reading the engine's RPMs. It is off anywhere from 2 to 3 thousand RPMs on the high side. In addition it will on occasion erratically bounce around the gauge. I am wondering if I am dealing with a bad tach or if it could be something more serious such as a ignition transistor unit that is on its way out. Any thoughts?
