Has anyone put 16in volvo rims on a 1991 240 sedan with 205/55/16R tires?

Okay...you will need to get some spacers.
You have a RWD model with an offset of ~20mm, and the 850 has the FWD offset of ~43mm. ~25mm spacers should be fine (Click Here).
I dont remember if it is 93 or 94 850s have the 4 lug pattern, so you can't use that year rims.

 

I've read it's not very safe putting spacers on wheels not designed for your vehicle........you can do some Google Searching on that issue and also check with reputitable online wheels sites like www.tirerack.com for their advice. You can get good deals on Genuine Volvo OEM wheels from www.wheelsamerica.com that have been re-manufactured to like-new condition for very reasonable cost. For example, I just ordered from them four Volvo 16" Hydra alloys for $131 each with warranty and free shipping. They cost almost $300 new at the Volvo dealers. We're upgrading our 89 Volvo 740 GL wagon 15" metal wheels to these 16" Hydras using some 16" tires that came off our 1995 Volvo 850. The 16" Goodyear Assurance tires we wanted to install on the 89 were 205/55-16 which are the size required for the 89 740 vehicle but the 850's wheels were not the proper fitment. You need a wheel with 15-20 MM offset. In fact, TireRack doesn't even carry wheels for Volvos with that fitment anymore.......I had checked when researching wheels for the 89 740. Here are the vehicles that take the same size wheels/tires: 1989-199 Volvo 740; 1991-1994 Volvo 940; 1992-1994 Volvo 960 (Source: WheelsAmerica.com). www.discounttiredirect.com also has brand new non-Volvo Voxx MG 16x7 5-108 20SML 5 spoke alloy that also fits these vehicles for $120......however we decided to go with the 16" Volvo Hydra wheel for our 89 740.

 

Yeah I have Heard this.
My dad has the H&R 15mm spacers on his 540i for 5 years with no problems. We even tracke with them.

 

Are there any issues with putting 16 in rims with 205/55/16 tires from a 940 91 volvo on a 91 240 volvo. According to volvo they both have 5 lugs with 108 mm offset. Thoughts?

 

They should work.

FYI...the RWD bolt pattern is 5x108mm and the offset is ~23mm.
