1989 740 wagon trany-problem

1989 740 wagon, wont shift more than 1st and second only. oil level is good but if idly at high rpms will shift to 3rd gear please adviced

hmmm...I'm gonna go out on a limb and say you may be due for a new transmission. You could always change the filter; cheaper than a transmission.
