Default 1990 240 DL blower motor resistor

Sorry if this question has already been asked but I couldn't find the answer I was looking for. What is the easiest way to replace the blower motor resistor on a 1990 240 DL? Is there a way to "Jerry Rig" it? I can see were the wires go into the plastic housing and they are melted and stuck together. The blower motor only works on high and no other setting. What I was thinking was to buy the resistor and just mount it somewhere under the dash. Is this a bad idea? Volvo really tried to make the replacement a real pain.

Any help and ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Nick

I don't know about jury rigging the resistor pack, considering where it is, I would replace it and the blower motor while I was there.

Here is everything you need to know in a pictorial form.

Just keep in mind Volvo built the car around the blower motor, to me it is the Super Bowl of Interior repairs.

Good Luck

one of many major improvments on the 740/940 was the complete redesign of the HVAC, the fan motor and resistor are easily accessible behind the glovebox.
