hello world. my 90' 240 (138,000 miles) seems to be a bit sluggish! i realize that 240s are tanks, but i owned a 1988 240 (over 300,000 miles) and it was way more responsive and fast. i have an exhaust leak in my tailpipe, but i just bought a new sport exhaust system thru ipd that im putting on this weekend. but i was wondering if the exhaust leak could be causing my loss of performance? or if it is something else engine related? any tips?

 

i would start with your basic tune up items
check
air filter
look carefully at the plugs, all the same ?, fouled ? etc
cap & rotor
fuel filter
thermostat
tire pressures
dead bodies in trunk
etc
