Default 1990 240 will not start. Starter tested good. Help!

My 1990 240 Auto Tran. just would not start the other day. Battery is good and have power to everything. When turn the key, nothing. My first thought was the starter. Pulled the starter and bench tested it and it is good. But I replaced it with a new one anyway since I had already bought it. Still nothing. Is there some sort of relay or fuse or something that could be bad. I can't find anything in the manuals that it could be. Any help appreciated.

Nevermind. I figured it out. It was the transmission shifter linkage that was loose not engaging the sensor when in park.

turn your headlights on and see if they dim or go out when you engage the starter. I'm assuming the engine isn't turning over at all, right?

What happens actually when you turn the key? Does the starter give any sound at all or does it just click? You must give us more info so we can help you. Maybe you have an earthing problem,so take a starter cablewire and put it from minus of battery to a point on the motor and see what happens at starting now.

Okay, I replaced the neutral switch and have it turning over now but it still wont start. I am headed back over today as I suspect it may be out of gas. This is my sons car and I am ashamed to say, I forgot to check the gas gauge yesterday.

I checked all of the fuses, no issues there! Let me get out there today and see about the gas gauge.

Sometimes even if you have just a little gas left in the tank it may still not start because your fuelpump could be rusty and cracked at the point where it enters the fuel tank. This is a common 240 problem. You may have to put even more gas in it and then it may start if your start problem is gas
