I have a 1990 740. Had it in reverse with the car running. Went to turn off and when I did I realized I was in reverse. the car drifted forward and I put it in park. Now when I turn the key it won't start?? Everything else seems ok. The key turns but I can hear the fuel pump prime. But when I turn the key I get nothing?

Check the starter and try wiggling the shifter.
