1990 780 Bertone Sunroof Leaking!
Hi, I guess I belong in this forum. I just bought a 1990 780 yesterday, and today it rained
I should have seen that the sunroof was siliconed around the edges a bit and the inside frame of the sunroof was rusted in places - cest la vie, the rest of the car is beautiful.
The water may be coming in between the glass and the rubber, or between the rubber and the car, or both.
Does anyone know if there is an adjustment to make the sunroof sit a bit higher when closed?
I sort of don't want to have to disassemble the whole thing if I don't have to ( I have never done one - and I think it would be a nightmare to find and parts if something breaks?)
Has anyone worked on the sunroof of a 780?
I did not know that sunroofs had drains. Where are they?
Any help anyone can offer would be appreciated.
John

The 780 should be like any 700... You have to open it to access the drain holes. There are 4 in each corner and they have to be cleared. You should drop the panel covering the motor and use a screwdirver to move it manually, it may just be stuck. If you get good movement indicating lack of bigger problems, check the motor operation... If you have bigger issues you may have to drop the headliner to get to it all. Careful with taking the h/liner down as many parts are brittle 20+ yrs italian plastic, 780 only, and hard to come by...
BTW the rubber/felt gasket around the roof is no water seal...
