Hey guys on my 1990 Volvo 240 the windshield wipers will stop in the middle of my windshield. yet it appears that they are aware of it because they go all the way down and back up and then to the middle again. If anyone knows how to fix this or has experience it would be a huge help.

 

probably a bad wiper motor. fairly easy to replace the motor (my 18 yr old daughter did it with me standing over her). maybe bad linkage, real pain to replace/repair the linkage.

the motor has an eccentric shaft that does one full turn for each wiper stroke, the position it stops at is determined by a contact wiper cam thing inside the motor.
