Default 1990 volvo front end to 1989

Hi everyone a while back my mom got into an accident she drives a 1989 740GL when we took it to a bodyshop they told us that they had a 1990 and could use the front end and fit. It did problem is though since then she is having problems with headlights and turning signals not working she can't switch hi low beams and if she turns lights on wipers wont stop working. we took it back 3 times same story.
Any suggestions?

Probably wired differently. Find a Volvo shop to fix it.

I don't have wiring diagrams for 89 or 90 740's, sadly, just 91-92 740 and all the 940's.

it sounds like the body shop butchered the wiring. someone familiar with automotive electrics should be to sort it out using a multimeter and/or test light and being systematic. having the wiring diagrams would help, of course. both 89 and 90 were transition years, 91+ are pretty much the same as the 940's.

when you say the front end clip was swapped, how much? the whole engine compartment from the firewall forward, or just the fenders/front grill/bumper ?

The biggest change from 89 to 90 was the headlights . The 89 had 4 seal beam lights and the 90 had the 2 full plastic euro type light assemblies. My bet is the wiring difference was not corrected when the front end was assembled. Sounds like the shop didn't do their homework. You need to find a volvo shop to correct.

I still think anyone competent with a volt meter and automotive electrics, equipped with volvo wiring diagrams for 89 and 90 should be able to sort it out in a couple hours. doesn't have to be a 'volvo shop' (increasingly rare... the big one here is now a volvo/mercedes/bmw/audi/vw shop, and only wants to work on newer cars as all their old 'brick' mechanics retired long ago).
