Question 1991 740 Coolant temp sensor wires torn

Hello, I believe that the wires from my coolant temp sensor were torn from the sensor boot. The sensor is in tact but it has some rubber like stuff on the two pins. Both of the wires have been taken out and seem to be damaged. Could I DIY this with some elbow grease, solder and shrink wrap?

Thanks for the help buddies

I'm not sure shrink wrap does real well under the hood of a car, due to the sustained heat it will be quite soft.

if the pins are gummed up with 'some rubber stuff', I'd probably get a new sensor. I'd probably also get a new plug shell (this would be a volvo dealer item) and new crimp-on connector pins.

the fun part is, figuring out which connector shell and pins those are. the parts catalog has this drawing...

with things like #22 having the note: 1.0-2.5mm^2 (which refers to metric wire gauge).

hmm, a bit of googling found this? https://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Connect...r/122907254382

I won't vouch that's the correct one for your car as it appears there's two different CTS, with flat and round pins, and I'll be darned if I know which is for what.
