Reaction rod bushings. They mimic rotor shake but since you did that... and the Volvos are really prone to that.

Thank you, but what exactly is a reaction rod bushing?

I've put new rotors and brake pads on many cars and can say that it's rare that I didn't have to remove the new rotors after a couple thousand miles and have them turned. The new ones I installed on my wifes E320 have pulsated since the day I put them on soit's on my agenda to remove those and have them turned as well. I guess new rotors are of course allowed tolerances, I just don't think the tolerances are true enough on most.

Make sure there is no rust between the rotor and hub.
If you just installed them and drove it and they shake contact the seller and ask to get a new set.

How many miles on car? My experience tells me tie rods (in and outer)and/or bushings, which areresonable to replace if you do the work yourself. - control arm and sway bar links.

Wow! The breadth of comments, absolutely amazing... Reaction rods are on each side from the lower suspension to the the chassis and have bushings on each end. Each rod is about a foot long and about an inch in diameter, really can't miss it. When the car brakes, weight shifts forward and if the bushings are worn, well, they will make it shimmy like a rotor shake. Actually on a Volvo 740-940 you can kick the tires and if they shake, that's due to those bushings. Don't kick them on the side butin the front. Easy do-it-youself repair.

Thanks to everyone for their comments. At least I havesome ideas. The car was from my late father and has +110K miles. I've changed brakes at least a dozen times thus far in my life and this volvo stumped me. I'm gonnaASSume the brand new rotors are true at this point and kick the tires which I will be more than happy to do. Something tells me it's an existing problem because it shook before the job. I am dreading having to go to the volvo repair shop. Just got a quote to change out the AC compressor and hose for a whopping $1,300. Found the parts on Ebay for $275 with the new refrigerant. I've also done that before on other cars, but something tells me I'm about to step in it again. I have no choice. The temperature in Baton Rouge will soon be 500 degrees and I don't want to rob a bank. Will advise...

It was the darn rotor. Parts store sold me a rotor that was cracked to the hub. I can't believe it.

Glad you figured it out, and i hate to say it but thoes part stores are no help with anything. It dosen't affect me that much because i know my way around my car etc as im sure most of you do but what about thoes people who don't! The ones who dont know that an oil change is a must! I pray for their cars.
