Default 1992 245 hesitation and bad speedometer

My 1992 245 hesitates under slow acceleration. It had been in storage for about 3 years. I've cleaned all I could; throtle body, idle control valve, check all ground connections. Idle is pretty high at aroun 950 w/o air conditioner on.
Any suggestions.
Also my speedometer is slow. It doesnt go past 15 MPH. I've visually inspecetd the sensor...seem ok
Odometer is doing its thing either.

Thanks in advance,

Vic

If yours has the LH 3.1 system it could just be out of adjustment. Mine would stumble on off idle response. It stumbled enough that you had to rev the engine past 1500 to let the clutch out. I checked the throttle position sensor and it read 1020 ohms. The book said it should read 1200 ohms. It did not read thistill the throttle plates had already started to open.

Took the sensor off and checked it off the car. It read perfectand was not scratchy. Reinstalled and still low reading. I then adjusted thethrottle linkage as per the manual. With.040in gap on thedial at idle and .004 gap on theset screw. Now I have the correct reading as idle. Also 98% of the stumble is gone. The remaining is likely injectorcarbon related. Alsohave a lot more power.

JW...where did you find the info on the .040" gap on the dial and .004" on the set screw? Bentleys?

Thanks,

Yes. It is in the Bentley blue book. If I remember correctly there are two sections that deal with throttle body. One is fuel and one is air. Both reference data/settings from the other. I think the air one has the linkage setup. Even has pictures.

Well I adjusted all the idle screw and TPS as indicated in the Bentleys and Haynes. Idle is a around 850 -900. Took her for a drive and I could stiil feel the hesitation. I've also filled her up with premium gas and it seem to be improving. I'm thinking maybe old fuel varnish (since she was not used for about 3 years) is getting cleaned up with all the use it's getting now. I'll keep you all posted. Thanks.

Speedometer still bad...just goes up to around 15-20 mph. Any suggestions. I've opened it up and theodometer gear is degraded. Ill replace that if I can get the speedometer to work. No debris found that could jam up in there. Anyone know how to check the sensor? Is it same as a 740?

Thanks
