1992 740 GLA brake bleeding problem..
I have a '92 745 GLA with Girling front calipers and Ate rears. I have ABS. I have one bleeder on each caliper. I can't seem to get the air out of the rears. Since I have one bleeder/caliper, does that mean conventional bleeding; RR, LR, RF & LF? I'm getting a stream of Champagne bubbles that won't go away. I bought a Motive Products bleeder and will be trying again today/tomorrow. Any ideas? Thanks, C.

What was the reason you needed to bleed the system? How are you bleeding it now. There is no difference in bleeding the ABS unless you replace the ABS or MC units. How are your brake hoses. Check the system for leaks as it seems you are drawing air into it as you are going through the bleeding process. I replace all of my bleeders with a product called "speedbleeders" which is a 1 man operation. It takes me longer to take off the wheels then it does to bleed the brakes. Then again I only had to bleed the system once in 320K miles . I blew a brake hose and had to replace them all.

I replaced a front caliper about 6 months ago and never really got the pedal back. The other front caliper was sticking too and I'm just getting to it. I'll be doing it today and then I'm going to power bleed the system. My post was to make sure there wasn't some odd brake line circuit that required special bleeding. I have only one(1) bleeder/caliper. Maybe I just wasn't patient enough last summer. I'll followup later, C.

Just to be on the same page I believe it is "passenger rear , driver rear , passenger front , driver front". You would do the furthest wheel 1st . When replacing a front caliper make sure the pistons are pushed all the way in. Let brake fluid flow out of the brake hose as you assemble it. Start the bleeding process in the rear.

Thanks all. I got it pretty good with the power bleeder yesterday. Used the old RR,LR,RF, LF method. Did prefill the caliper. The thing that's odd is I get the initial stream of bubbles from hooking up my empty hose, then I get old discolored fluid, then I get the new fluid with some bubbles but there's always a straggler that comes along. I went around twice. The pedal is much better and the new rotors and pads up front feel much better but I have the feeling I still have some air in there. Anyway, you all have helped enough. I just wanted to make sure there wasn't something tricky like the other system I don't have with the 3 bleeders... Thanks, C.
