Default 1993 240 not starting

I have a 1993 240 that is not starting. A few weeks ago I broke the alternator belts and had to be towed home. tried to start it today after charging the battery overnight and nothing. Did not get the starter solinoid sound....nothing. Anyone have any ideas where to start?

verify that the battery is in fact charged (volt meter across the battery should read ~ 13V). also measure the voltage from the engine block (ground) to the "+" terminal which is somewhere over on the driver side of the engine compartment and has all the red wires going to it.

When you turn the ignition on, do you get all the lights on the dashboard lit up?

The only weak link in the starter circuit I can think of is the transmission starter inhibit switch... try putting the gearbox in neutral instead of park? this starter inhibit switch is under the automatic shift lever, and prevents you from engaging the starter except in P or N.

Word of advice, if you pull the starter and have it tested at a place like autozone, and they tell you its good, don't always believe it. Their test unit doesn't put the same load on it your car does, so it can pass their test but still not start your car. Found this out the hard way when a 97 grand cherokee wouldn't start and I couldn't figure out why, until I put a different starter in it.
