745 / 945 pet owners
For those who have a dog which of the pet barriers in your estimation work best ?
Seem to be a lot of mediocre ones out there and hoping someone has a recommendation for a quality barrier.

The volvo factory (field installable) pet guard rocks. I don't think anything aftermarket works as well. I've got a very rambunctious yellow labrador, and (for this summer) my son's bouncing border collie mix, and both stay behind the barrier. the after market barriers we've tried before were all way too flimsy and a determined dog could easily get past them. They are no longer sold, but I found a NOS one at a dealer on clearance, and I've seen them for sale on craigslist, ebay, etc.
there's two versions, one for 740s and 940s up through 92, and another for the 93-95 940s that had the taller back seats. The hinges bolt up where the back seatbelt upper slider mounts, the gate drops down and clips behind the back seat. when you don't need it, it swings back and up and clips against the roof (comes with the clips).
I do have to say, the 855 one works even nicer, it has pressurized lift things similar tot he tailgate lifts so it doesn't need clips.
hint on the 740/940 gates, wrap the gate with some gaffers tape where it goes into the clips to stop it from rattling.

I guess you're not talking wagon here. IPD has a pet barrier that I use in my 740 wagon. It's metal and works much better than my forearm/hand at keeping my lab in the back. It has two different leg lengths so I suppose it could work in a car.
I really love mine (not sure if my dog does though, she'd rather be up front)
