Default 1993 240 Wagon, Door Panel fasteners??

Hello, I have a broken driver door handle on a 1993 240 Wagon with Power Windows.

I am wondering where I would find all the door fasteners I need to remove in order to get the door panel off to replace the door handle.

Any information would be great

Thanks

Trevor

any Volvo dealer's parts counter should have those fasteners, or can get them next day.

240 doors are a pain compared with 740/940 doors :-/

if you use a decent plastic trim tool with the forked tip, you can usually get most of the snaps out without breaking them.

IPDusa has all that...just try not to break the cardboard-ey material that the plastic fasteners insert into the doors too much

I believe there's a couple bolts that go through the handle into the door frame, also some snaps. not 100% sure, its been ages since I took a 240 door apart (always hated them, my 740 is *SO* much easier).

i replaced a couple door handles on one of my 240s a while back.

the door panel has a few screws, including one in the window crank. after that the panel just pops off. just use a tool to pull it and be careful. the pins a fairly tough but the cardboard like panel is not. unfortunately someone had already been into my door before and tore up a few of the slots where the pegs go.

after that theres just two screw that hold the door handle in place and the metal bar that hooks into the handle. unscrew it and set the bar to the side. slide it out and put the new one in. for me it took a minute to get the new one in because youve gotta wiggle it around to find the right way to slide it in.

then put it back together. very easy.

With power windows, there are three screws in the interior door handle: two behind the round plugs on the face of the horizontal portion of the handle and one in the front horizontal portion with no plug-this screw is the shorter one. After you get those out, you twist the whole interior handle 90 degrees or so around the very top angled portion of the handle to 'unhook' or release it from the clip behind. BE CAREFUL here so you don't rip the clip out. Go slow and try pushing in and out until it moves more freely. You need to remove the map holders too which have a couple of screws at the bottom and two inside close to the top ends which are kind of a pain and awkward to get at. After that you can pop the panel off as its just standard plastic clips holding it in. The exterior door handle has two torx bolts holding it in that you can get easily get at with the panel removed and then some linkage you can disconnect by hand. Pretty simple actually, just be careful with the clips since they will break and/or have some spares handy.
