I have all kinds of problems with my stock Volvo radio/cassette player. It sends intermitent music to the different speakers. Unless I turn the volumn way up the music to the speakers is intermitent. I assume the radio is about shot. Is that common? Can I replace it with a basic CD palyer from Wal Mart?

 

You have to be careful and look and see if your car has an Amp first.
If you have one it will be under the dash on the drivers side.

 

If it has an amp are you saying that I need to replace it with another stock volvo radio? Does the symptoms that I mentioned about my radio sound common as a bad radio?

 

If you have an Amp you will have to bypass the Amp to install a new radio.

That sounds pretty close to a bad radio. But could also be a bad Amp if you have one.
