Default 1993 volvo 240 sedan stalls and I don't know how to fix it!

Hey guys,
I own a volvo 240 sedan from 1993, and while I'm idling or when I am driving below 20 miles an hour the car will cut off. Sometimes it shakes then it cuts off. I’ve had this problem for about a year now, I have been to four different mechanics and each time they have thought they have fixed it.

The first guy replaced the spark plugs, distributor cap and rotor, Ignition wire set and also replaced the engine air filter. The second guy cleaned the throttle body. The third guy replaced the electric fuel pump and the fourth guy cleaned the mass air flow meter. None of these repairs seemed to stop the car from stalling.
I found out about the self diagnostic system built into the car today and ran a few tests. The only problem I found was that the RPM sensor signal was intermittently missing. I don’t know what else I can do to fix this problem if any of you guys have any ideas for me that would be great.
Thanks!

Change that Crankshaft Position Sensor, it's what the system is calling for! Make sure you get an OEM part--not hard to do yourself.

Just read this thread. Glad you solved your issue. My son has been reporting our '93 240 wagon is not starting. It was cranking, but now not even cranking. Help!

Well, yeah, make sure you have a good battery, then it should crank, go from there.
