I'm going to be installing a new AC compressor (and dryer) on a friends 1994 (non turbo) 940.

Is this a pretty straight forward AC compressor install? I've done similar jobs on a Subaru and a Nissan truck but have never worked on a Volvo.

Looking under the hood, it seems like there is an abundance of space to work with (much roomier than the other two mentioned above) but was still wondering if there are any particular snags or tricks I should be aware of before bleeding the system and beginning to take things apart.

Any comments would be appreciated.

Don't forget to install a new orifice tube along with the compressor and accumulator.

 

i may just put the old belt back on, as we don't need AC near San Francisco...

 

if that car had R12 in it, you want to complete flush any traces of the old oil from the heat exchanger and condensor before loading with r134a compatible ester oil and refrigerant

 

If it's a '94, I doubt that it ever had R-12 in it...

 

k, I wasn't sure what the cutover date was. my 92 came with r12 (but was converted by the previous owner)
