Tips for control arms install on 85 245 DL
I red that you must tighten the rear bushing nut, front bushing bolt / nut, rear bushing bracket bolts only with suspension loaded: wheels on the car, and on the ground.
Does anyone have some tips as to how to access the rear bushing nut for final tightening?
I mean: If the car is off jack stands with the wheels on, I would not have any room to allow me to reach out to bushing nut inside the control arm bracket???
Thanks for your help!
Also, do you have to get the car aligned, if you only tempered with the control arms?

I don't think an alignment is needed, and only the front/rear nuts need the final torque with the car weight. You can access them from the top - although the passenger side is a hassle becuase the exhaust is in the way - I've used a ratcheting end wrench for that one.
I always tighten the suspension bolts enough so that they're just snug, drop the car then run the axle I'm working on up on ramps. That way you have the suspension loaded and can get proper leverage on the various fasteners.
I'd get an alignment done, they're cheap, certainly cheaper than a pair of tyres.
Regards, Andrew.
