1994 940 Turbo - ABS Regulator?
Hey folks,
I'd appreciate if anyone could share some insight on this problem (I've searched for it first). I have a generally strong 1994 940 Turbo with around 270,000 km on the engine. Reliability is good and I've generally enjoyed the car. In terms of the brakes, I noticed one day that the brakes had faded and the pedal descends near to the floor before any braking affect takes hold at all - although most of the braking has gone, I still have a little "limp-home" braking.
Until I could get it into my mechanic, I adjusted my driving and allowed for significantly extended distance requirements. Interestingly, on wet or snowy roads, the ABS was very eager to kick in, pulsing the system repeatedly.
Initial thoughts were about the master cylinder however neither my mechanic or Volvo Canada has ever had any issues with the masters on the 740/940. Confirming this, there is no fluid leaks at all. We've bled the brakes and the problem still persists. All slides/calipers/etc seem okay. My mechanic is suspecting that the ABS regulator may be the culprit....I'm having him explore other configurations - even sacrificing the ABS to return to conventional braking - as I hear that regulators are very expensive. As the regulator is consolidated within the general braking system, I don't think this is as easy as pulling the fuse on the ABS system.
I'd appreciate any thoughts on this one, before I sink bags and bags on money into this process

RE: 1994 940 Turbo - ABS Regulator?
Here is the U.S. there is problems with the masters.
Also have seen some problems with the ABS units as well.
Did fluid flow good from all the calipers.
All of the cars I have seen with the ABS unit problems one wheel was not getting brake fluid going to it.

You could get an ABS unit at any junkyard for practically nothing.
