new to the forum.
does the volvo need its valves adjusted ? it runs pretty good , i thought.
a guy , susposededly very good mechanic, is working on my car for thr first time ,
said my valves were out of adjustment , sometinh like 44 thousandths. said they were to far out to adjust .
had to replace rocker arms , yada, yada, . i am not familiar with the volvo , only had it a year. took it to him to fix my overdrive coming on and off . does this sound right . i cant find a good volvo book , even in the library . dealer wants 200 bucks for manual.
thanks , for any info. im into almost 600 in parts that he said he neede to fix it . pushing my budget

Where are you located?
Which engine is in there?


All of the 850 Engines I have ever see are DOHC which means No Rocker arms. Also no adjustment because they are hydrolic lifters.

i think the engine is the b240 or something like that.
not at home now, not sure how to find what engine i have ?

p.s. picked up my car.
guy showed me a relay , controlled my overdrive lights on the dash i am betting. said it cost 295 bucks . i said forget it. took it home. looked it up. 29 bucks . it is the overdrive relay.what a ****.
now i have the relay, dont know where he took it out from. ?
anybody know .

My bad on the post above not sure where I got 850 from.

The 940 is a pain to adjust on.


The overdrive relay might go behind the Ashtray.
