1995 940 Cuts Offf
I have a 1995 940 turbo. When I start the car, after 1-2 minutes if dies. If I restart it immediately, it starts then dies again. If I give it 15-30 seconds, it starts and runs. I thought maybe if just needed a minor tuneup, so I replaced plugs, wires, rotor button and distributor cap. This did not fix the problem. It is worse when it is warm to hot but happens in cooler weather ( I live in Charlotte, NC, so I mean cooler, not cold like Chicago or Buffalo). It idles a little rough, but not terrible, acceleration can be a little sluggish, but once again not terrible. I have 175,000 miles, have had to do no major maintenance for last 75,000 (wife's car when we married, so not sure of history before 2003). She wants to move this car on to her 16 year old son for his first driver, but not with the cutting off thing. Any ideas?
Gremlins are hard to pin down. Could be anything. Once it dies and stays dead, then you're ahead of the game because the conditions are constant. When that happens, go to www.stepbystepvolvo.com for free guide to 740/940 no-starts.
Sounds like my lawnmower, which I still haven't figured out yet.
