1995 Volvo 940
Hello
i posted this before and TECH answered my doubt, about the problem i had which is that whenever i start the car the RPM goes below the 900 RPM standard i believe and it shuts off, i took it to the mechanic and i told the guy clean the IDLE engine and the throttle body, and he "said" he did it, but i dont believe him, maybe he did and that didnt fix it?

since i take it to a mechanic, he "checks" all of that, but how can i be sure...maybe if i take it to the volvo dealership?

Sorry I don't have any pics. Look for a hose going to the engine on the left side of the car. The peice it attaches to on the engine is the throttle body. You can also folow the Cable to the engine and then the little Rod that goes to the throttle body as well.
I don't Own a Volvo but have seen many of them with well over 300,000 miles on them.

wait i didnt understand, so if its dirty, i should buy a new gasket, clean out the throttle body and then reinstall it with the new gasket?

Yes if it is dirty that is what you need to do.
Yes the Carb cleaner will work as well.
If you decide to tackle it and it is dirty the let me know when you do it.
I will try my best to walk you through checking the throttle switch and plate adjustment.

i think i will take it to the mechanic and guide him through it because i dont really think i will do it
and if its dirty, will the mechanic know how to clean it? (he's not very competent) i think i will take it to the volvo dealership

Thats up to you. It really isn't all that hard. Would probably take you 45min to an hour for your first time.
All you will need is a straight screwdriver,13mm wrench and maybe a 8mm wrench and possibly allenwrenches.

Ok, i will try to do it, and i will be taking my car for a engine wash because its DIRTY, look at it and then maybe you see what 11 years of not cleaning it looks like heh, also on the back seats of the car, what do you call the thing where you put items like behind the drivers seat and the passengers seat? because the elastic that goes there is all worned out, and i want a new one
oh my lord, i cant just change the elastic band in it? !! oh well, ill see what i can do, and also i just changed the 4 shock absorbers of my volvo, and the car feels exactly the same way it did with the old shocks, i mean i feel every hole on the street, maybe because the shocks are brand new and they need time to loosen up? whats wrong?
