Default 1995 Volvo 940

Hello

i posted this before and TECH answered my doubt, about the problem i had which is that whenever i start the car the RPM goes below the 900 RPM standard i believe and it shuts off, i took it to the mechanic and i told the guy clean the IDLE engine and the throttle body, and he "said" he did it, but i dont believe him, maybe he did and that didnt fix it?

Pull the hose off the throttle body and look inside with a Mirror.

oh ok, would you provide a pic of what a throttle body looks like? and another question, is the distance that you have done on a volvo on kilometers or miles?

Sorry I don't have any pics. Look for a hose going to the engine on the left side of the car. The peice it attaches to on the engine is the throttle body. You can also folow the Cable to the engine and then the little Rod that goes to the throttle body as well.

I don't Own a Volvo but have seen many of them with well over 300,000 miles on them.

First buy a new gasket. Then remove it and clean it with Carb cleaner. Then reinstall it.

Yes if it is dirty that is what you need to do.

Yes the Carb cleaner will work as well.

If you decide to tackle it and it is dirty the let me know when you do it.

I will try my best to walk you through checking the throttle switch and plate adjustment.

Thats up to you. It really isn't all that hard. Would probably take you 45min to an hour for your first time.
All you will need is a straight screwdriver,13mm wrench and maybe a 8mm wrench and possibly allenwrenches.

Ok, i will try to do it, and i will be taking my car for a engine wash because its DIRTY, look at it and then maybe you see what 11 years of not cleaning it looks like heh, also on the back seats of the car, what do you call the thing where you put items like behind the drivers seat and the passengers seat? because the elastic that goes there is all worned out, and i want a new one

I call them Seat Pockets. But they are part of the seat cover and you have to buy the seat cover for like $300.00 to $400.00 each.

Possibly the springs are worn.

It should go faster than that. Not to sure why though.
I wish I was there to look at it.
