1st gear tranny shudder?
I finally got our 'new' 240 s/w on the road, OD works (soldered connections in relay) fixed DD exterior handle ( fabbed one out of 1/4" alum plate) got tags and insurance. I had not driven it on pavement yet when we drove it friday night to town. The tranny seems to have a shudder in 1st gear when both accelerating and decelerating. You can feel it shift and the shudder seems to be tied to the gear change. I checked the tranny fluid and it was at the correct level, it did have a very mild 'burned' smell. Any ideas? Is the tranny shot? are there pressure modulators and such that would cause this?
thanks for the help.

That first gear "shudder" may be engine mounts and/or U-joints that you would not be feeling at higher speeds/lower motor RPM's. Likely not U-Joints if it all goes away after first 15 MPH. But it can be motor mounts.
You down-shift into low? Don't unless you want this transmission to die soon.

I don't downshift, I just thought I could feel the tranny downshifting as the car slowed down to stop. maybe that's a lockup converter or maybe I'm just nuts.
I have not looked at the motor or tranny mounts, or the u joints. I will have to look at them today when the weather warms up a little.
thanks for the suggestions.
