Hi all,
I just installed two of the new wiring harnesses for the rear hatch on my 240 wagon and the 3rd brake light is acting funny. It stays on when the brake pedal isn't depressed, and turns off (with the dash light coming on) when the brake pedal is released. Any thoughts on how to remedy this?

that suggests somethings not connected properly. ensure the 3rd brakelight has a good ground. all 3 of the brake lights are on separate wires all the way from the 'bulb out sensor' under the dash.

 

You replaced the entire harness in the hatch itself ? There are a few grounds in there ensure they are secure as well as connectors in hinges are correctly installed.

 

The harnesses I installed are brand new, but I didn't do anything w the broken ground wired in the hinge..I guess I did t think they really did anything.. I will hook them up and give that a try!

 

That did the trick! Thanks! So I assume, the reason why my power lock on the hatch doesn't work is because of the ground on the other hinge..
