240 Buyer's Guide
Hello everyone,
I've been looking into buying a 240 for a little while, and just wanted to know if there were any specific things I should be looking out for when shopping for these cars, especially given their age. Are there any specific years/models that have big things to look out for? On the flip side, are any years known for being more reliable than others? Are there any big issues/dead giveaways when test driving/inspecting to look out for? Any other advice for someone looking to jump into the world of 240 ownership?
Anything is appreciated!

The later model the better... 1993 is best. Trim and body panels and interiors are more difficult to keep up at this point, NLA parts, the drivetrains are bulletproof unless supremely abused... Electrics are dodgy, what with '60 ceramic fuses... Make sure the transmission, OD, etc. is good, fluid, etc. Odometers are often inop so don't rely on "low" miles, research through records, carfax, etc, much abuse there... rust as in all cars is to be avoided. I can write volumes but, well, lots of info on the internet...
Oh, yeah, and the 740/940 is a much better car but not as "cool"...
