I have an 87 240 and the drivers door just broke at the hinge. I also have an 85 240 with good doors, any chance they are compatible and I can just do a swap? Climbing over the passenger seat is getting old fast.

 

I did a quick check on car-part.com and it looks like the 87's doors are same as 86 to 89 and the 85's are common to 82-85... not sure of the diff but it looks like the answer is no. Looks like there's plenty of parts available to color match with 150 as the median price. You can also check Craigslist local to you.

Also, if its just the hinge, you may be able to find a replacement part. Here's a page with the Volvo part numbers to google.
