Default 240 engine swap?

While I was at work today, I was thinking about engine swaps.
Shoot me down if you wish, but I think a 240 would be pretty sick with a v6 rather than 4 cylinders.
So here's the deal.
I have a 1988 volvo 244 GL, automatic that I got for $200 back in December.
I also have a wrecked 2000 Hyundai sonata GLS, automatic v6 2.5 liter engine.
The engine and all the mechanics survived the crash. It's just not worth repairing because of the amount of rust. The engine and trans have about 100,000 miles on it.

So is it possible? a Hyundai to a Volvo?
I'm not a mechanic but I'm going to school for automotive so I may keep the car until I know what I'm up against.

Dude...re-think this unless you want two disabled cars for a long time. The Hyundai is fwd and has a transverse power train. I understand the attraction, given you have access to a free drive train. All sorts of motors have been swapped into Volvos, even Volvo white blocks from the later wwd cars...BUT...the motor gets re-oriented and a rwd Volvo transmission is bolted up. Swapping aB230 out and a B230 in is a weekend thing. Converting, say, to a Ford SBF can easily take months or years. In my book, taking all that time to swap in a 2.5L Hyundai motor with 100K seems not only a waste of time but would, if ever completed, yield marginal gain. Just my opinion.

Well, that's all it is...an opinion. If you're dead set on doing it, don't let an old fart like me shut you down. Assuming you wanted to keep the car rwd, there is just lots of things...LOTS of things to source before you begin. A much more straight forward swap is a turbo motor from say, a 94 940. Drops right in and instead of 114 hp you have 157 out of the box and with minimal work, you have a car that will surprise Fox body 5.0 Mustangs!
