Default 240 questions!

Okay, so I just recently got a good deal on this 240.

first off, there is no dash lights at all! I'm thinking it might be a dimmer switch.

Another issue is the over drive isn't working and it's straining on the freeway.

If anyone can give me some advice that'd be great

Welcome to the forum, a good deal you say? Then you must have paid only $50 dollars.

Overdrive = Very common problem, so start here https://volvoforums.com/forum/volvo-...ngaging-34724/

As for your dash lights, are the bulbs good? Do any of the lights work for the ambient illumination of the switches? If automatic, does the gear selector have an illuminated gear selection? It could be a fuse, and could be the rheostat as those do fail. Is one of your parking lights out as well?

Hi. I am new to this site. I'm not sure how to navigate. I have a 1991 Volvo 240. I need to replace the ignition switch. Does anyone know the easiest way to get the two screws out after the wiring harness is removed from the back of the switch? Is there a certain screwdriver or what? Thanks.
