Default 240 rear lights out...

I have done some seaching in the forum and understand some of the issues but have not found the problem as yet (I have only just started).

There was some discussion about some orange cylinder or canister that hsa something to do with detecting lights out or something that seems can be a problem. Can someone describe this device, where it is located and if it will keep the tail lights and brake light from working?

Fuses seem OK but haven't traced from there yet.

PO had tail lamp circuit board replaced.

Any ideas would help. Thanks.

If it's a wagon (this is the kind of thing you need to mention when asking a question) then it's probably a broken wiring harness where it runs through the hinge on the tailgate.
