Pardon my ignorance but are people painting the section behind the license plate between the tail lights on sedans or is that a piece that is for sale? I like the look yet have no idea what its called...tia

 

Well, I haven't seen anyone with actual simulated tail lights...but there is indeed a trim panel that covers the dead space on sedans between the tails. Both the 240 and 740 series offered the decor panel (official name). The 240 version is much scarcer than the 740 version...which is scarce itself. That area looks particularly blank on US version cars as well as other countries with short license plates. Those decor panels, when they are for sale...are quite expensive and often not pristine. For lighter colored sedans, painting that area black often results in a pleasant appearance.

Herman, that picture is 5 years old. It's just the only picture I could find of the rear of a 240 sedan with a decor panel...I'm sure the car is long gone by now...
