I just bought an 86 240 wagon but I came with the distributor removed. I need to reinstall it but don't know how to find tdc with it removed...HELP!!

 

As you look at the front of the engine - down low, there is a pulley that all the belts attach to. Rotate this pulley until you find a line (notch?) on it. There also is a plastic mark on the timimg belt cover that marks 0 degrees TDC. Align the mark on the pully to this mark on the timing belt cover. This should place cylinder 1 at TDC.
