As my first post, let me say Hello to all of you, NOw my question. I have an 87 Volvo Penta powerd boat which is great, except it's points ignition a pain in the butt. I have a customer at my shop with an 87 240 that runs excellent, but is in poor shape otherwise. The engines look identical, but the car uses an electronic ignition. I was wondering if teh car distributor could work in my boat engine, or is the distributor computer controlled? ANyone have any link to how older volvo's work? Thanks for you input.
