240 wagon rust
New(to me) 1986 240 wagon has rust at corners of both rear window. Do I need to replace window seals? Is this hard to do? Is it worth me attempting or should I fork out $$ to a body shop?
Thanks

tough call...suppose it depends on how bad the rust is. I've been told by a couple body guys that no one likes to fix rust damage anymore. They'd just as soon replace the metal (or in your case the door). But that's expensive. If the rust hasn't produced any holes in the metal and you REALLY want to do something about it i'd pay the money to have them touch it up. If you've got holes in the metal already then forget about it....just enjoy what's left of your car.
Replacing the window seals is not hard...get new one might be though.

Thanks for your help here. The rust is a small area. It is not on the rear door but the rear window that runs the length of the cargo area. It is right in the corner and not very bad...no holes yet and appears to be from a leaking window seal. I think I'll have a body shop guy take a look and depending on the cost will decide what to do. It's the only rust in an otherwise solid California car
Right on...I missunderstood (obviously). For some reason, i was thinking sedan when yor post obviously says wagon. Consiquently, that seal is a little tricky to replace unless you have the right tools. At the very least your body guys should take care of that.
