I'm thinking about getting a mid 80's to early 90's 240 wagon but have been reading about issues with the wiring harness. Are there a lot of cases where the wires in the harness become brittle and the wire coating actually crumble and fall off?

What other big issues do there cars have?

 

The problem with the wiring harness runs from 84-86. Not sure exactly when they fixed it but those are the years I avoid. I also prefer models with the LH2.4 fuel injection over the LH2.2 - mainly because all of my 240s are post '89 and I can swap parts between them. Any 240 can have the odometer gear problem causing the odometer to stop. When looking at cars, if you see a trip odometer at 000, then most likely odometer isn't working. I see this in photos online all the time.
