You say you bought a 1980 244 GL? if my memory serves me right, volvo made a 4 cylinder GL and a 6 cylinder GLE model in that year. In 81 they then made a GLT turbo sedan and wagon. It was in 83 i think they came out with the 240 turbo model. so as far as i know, your model was not turbocharged, nor was any non turbo model. It would be my best guess than that ur car was not designed to have a turbocharged engine. Unless u want to fish around for a turbo unit with manifold and assorted parts and modify your engine, i'd stick with rebuidling your engine as is.

You would have to change everything right down to the exhaust if you went turbo. The turbo exhaust is bigger than the normally asperated to make up for the increase in boost. You would need to change wiring harness and computer and I would think it is more trouble than the car is worth</P>
