244 is missing when cold
My 1982 244 gas motor, automatic, mechanical fuel injection, starts up fine. When it is cold it misses noticeably. If I sit and wait until it is warm, bingo, suddenly is fine. What should I be looking for? The coil is good, spark plug wires fairly new, I believe the plugs are new also. So is the cap and rotor. Right now the weather is warm, so the miss lasts only a few minutes. I was planning on pulling wire on the motor when cold to see which cylinder is the issue. Any guidance would be great.
Misses at cold temps can be a weak spark or a lean condition (possibly caused by an intake air leak or low fuel pressure). Did you check the plugs to see if one is fouled? How does the car idle?
I have to pull the plugs but I know they were changed about a year ago... the idle is good... an occasional miss every 1 minute or so... I have never been satisfied with the look of the spark in this car... "looks" weak, but then so did my 84 244! Intake air leak? Hmm I will have to look at that... Thanks
