Default 245: Engine won't stop?!?

Just did a search for engine not stopping and only came up with three posts. So in one day, the car went from not starting, fixed that with a new MAF, but now it won't stop!

I'll take the key out and the engine keeps running, UNTIL I take my foot off of the brake pedal. That kills the engine.

Anyone have any ideas? Anyone want to buy a beat up 245 wagon?

Mine does that if I haven’t given it octane booster in a while, but I can tell it’s just dieseling. Putt putt putt puh clack puh clack.

yeah, the weird thing is that it won't die till I take my foot off the brake, car is in park and won't move.
what causes dieseling?

It’s unusual in fuel-injected engines but mine does it anyway. For my car it’s a combination of low-grade fuel, wrong spark plugs, and a high idle. For most cars it’s because carbon has built up on the inside of the cylinder, and that stuff will stay hot longer than the rest of the cylinder, and that’ll provide ignition for unburnt fuel. However, dieseling makes a distinctive putt-putt puh-clack noise before sputtering to a stop, what you’ve got sounds like an electrical fault. Particularly because there’s a little switch on your brake pedal what makes sure you can’t start the car unless it’s pressed down.
