Hi. I have a 1989 240 Wagon with a 4 spd standard transmission. there seems to be some sort of solenoid on the side if the transmission with some broken wires. Is this some sort of electronic overdrive? Does anyone know how it works? Thanks.

'89 240 have an M47 true 5 speed tranny, at least the ones for the US market. The M46 is a 4 speed with an electric overdrive, wires, switch on top of the shifter ****, etc.
